Tour to Iguazu Falls, San Ignacio Ruins, and Wanda Mines
The falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Argentine side and named one of the New 7 Natural Wonders of the World, will leave you awestruck with their perpetual thunder, the hoarse roar of a wild animal. In addition to visiting the falls, you will traverse mountainous terrain, wavy red roads, alternating between the voluminous Paraná River and the lush green jungle. You will also visit San Ignacio Miní, the most outstanding archaeological site of the Jesuit Settlement, and the Wanda Mines, dedicated to the extraction of semi-precious stones.
First Day in Iguazu:
Begin your tour to Iguazu Falls by departing from Buenos Aires airport. Upon landing in Iguazu, a 01argentina tour guide will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your last name to transfer you to your hotel in the town of Puerto Iguazu. They will also provide you with the exact pickup times for each excursion. After checking in at the hotel, you will have some free time for personal activities or to relax using the hotel facilities.
Second Day in Iguazu:
After breakfast, you will depart for a full-day excursion to the San Ignacio Ruins and Wanda Mines. The first stop is at the Wanda Mines, a deposit of semi-precious stones formed beneath the hard basalt rock surface, magically transformed into jewels and decorative pieces. There is also a store where you can buy sculpted stones and jewelry. Later, the excursion continues along Route 12, passing through small towns and tea and yerba mate plantations, typical economic activities of the region, until arriving at the San Ignacio Miní Ruins.
This construction dates back to the 17th century when Jesuit missionaries settled in the region. The guide will explain the construction system, the life and customs of the Guaraní Indians, and how they were Christianized. When the Jesuits were expelled, these constructions were almost completely destroyed; the ruins remained hidden in the jungle and were declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Late in the evening, you will return to your hotel in Puerto Iguazu.
Third Day in Iguazu:
After breakfast, you will depart for a full-day excursion to the Argentine side of Iguazu Falls, starting from your hotel lobby. You will visit a national park created in 1934 that contains one of Argentina's greatest natural beauties, the Iguazu Falls, surrounded by subtropical jungle. This park is considered an outstanding universal value for being an extraordinary area of cultural and natural importance that transcends national boundaries and becomes important for present and future generations of all humanity. During the excursion, you will be guided along several paths inside the national park to witness the incredible view of more than 200 falls, visiting the Green Way, the Upper and Lower Catwalks, and the Devil's Throat paths using the forest train. At the end, our tour guide will drop you off at your hotel lobby.
Fourth Day in Iguazu:
After enjoying a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, our English-speaking tour guide will pick you up at your hotel to take you to the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls. The Brazilian National Park was also declared a World Natural Heritage site for being a vital natural reserve in South America. The main attraction is the diverse fauna visible through the light filtering through the rainforest canopy, as well as the famous Iguazu Falls that form a 2700-meter-wide circle around the four falls. Torrents of water, whose roar can be heard from miles away, plunge about 250 feet down. The panoramic view is unbeatable as the walkway circuit is directly in front of the waterfalls.
Once the tour is finished, we will leave you at the hotel, and in the evening, we will transfer you to Iguazu airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires.
End of the Iguazu Falls tour: 4 days, 3 nights.
